Description
Paige Bueckers arrived at UConn in 2020 as the most hyped women's college recruit in years, and she spent her freshman season proving the hype right and the next three proving how fragile even generational talent can be. In 2020-21 she became the first freshman ever named the Associated Press Women's Player of the Year and won the Naismith Trophy, leading the Huskies in scoring, assists and steals. Then the setbacks piled up: a fractured tibia and torn meniscus cost her 19 games as a sophomore, and four months after that comeback she tore her ACL in a pickup game, wiping out her entire junior season. She came back for a fourth season, was part of the only UConn team to lose a national title game, then returned for a fifth year rather than enter the WNBA draft early.
That extra year paid off. In 2024-25 Bueckers averaged 19.9 points on a .534/.419/.889 shooting line, won the Wade Trophy as national player of the year, and finally delivered the championship that had eluded her, torching Oklahoma for 40 points in the Sweet 16 along the way and closing her college career with a title-clinching win over South Carolina. She left as UConn's leader in career scoring average at 19.8 points per game and third in career points with 2,439. A week later, the Dallas Wings made her the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, the sixth UConn player drafted first overall, following Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi, Tina Charles, Maya Moore and Breanna Stewart.
Her rookie season did nothing to slow the story down. Starting all 36 of her appearances, Bueckers averaged 19.2 points, 5.4 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 1.6 steals in 33.3 minutes and shot 47.4 percent from the field and 88.8 percent from the free throw line. She became the first rookie in WNBA history to average at least 15.0 points and 5.0 assists and shoot 45.0 percent or higher from the field in a season, and on August 20 against the Sparks she dropped 44 points on 17-of-21 shooting, a WNBA single-game rookie scoring record and the first 40-point, 80-percent-shooting game in league history. It came on a team that struggled around her; the Wings missed the playoffs, but Bueckers was named a 2025 All-Star starter and, in September, was voted Rookie of the Year with 70 of 72 possible votes.
That combination of a decorated but injury-scarred college run and an immediate, record-setting professional debut is what this card is selling. The 2025 Panini Prizm WNBA set arrived as the flagship chromium release for a rookie class built around Bueckers, and card #5 in the Ice Prizm parallel captures her in that first Wings uniform, the same rookie-year issue collectors reach for precisely because it lines up with a debut season that broke rookie records rather than simply meeting expectations.

How This Card Scores
This card scores 68% overall — the average of its five SWAPP™ ratings, each measured as set out below. A recent (April 2026), unnumbered Ice Prizm rookie of a hugely popular, frequently-traded WNBA star; visually pleasant but not a top-tier parallel, and likely one of many hundreds already graded across the hobby's major companies.
- SellabilityHigh · 88%
- High sellability index. Bueckers rookie cards are turning over rapidly on eBay right now, with dozens of Ice Prizm #5 listings selling regularly as collectors chase the headline name of the 2025 WNBA rookie class.
- Wow Factor76%
- Worked out from how the card looks: a modern card with a refractor / foil finish, which is visually striking on its own and starts at 76%. No autograph or patch is needed for that score.
- Age40%
- Worked out from the card's age: released 2026-04, it has been out about 6 months. Past six months, with comps to price it against, a card scores 40%; the next step comes at five years. That puts it at 40%.
- Popularity92%
- Paige Bueckers is the most-discussed rookie in the 2025 WNBA draft class, a former NCAA champion whose Rookie of the Year push keeps her in national sports headlines and social media constantly.
- Population CountMedium* · 350 · 45% Rarity
- About 350 graded copies (estimated) across the grading companies — high population. Ice Prizm #5 is not serial-numbered and falls at a common rate in every Prizm WNBA hobby box, so with strong early demand hundreds of copies have likely already been sent to PSA, BGS, SGC and CGC, though this specific copy was graded by the smaller Golden Grading company, which does not yet publish a population report.
